Meet the Creators
For the Kids Who Stay was born from a simple realization: while many resources support children moving between homes, very few speak to the children left counting down the days until their siblings return.
Created by a mother, stepmother, and children's mental health advocate, our mission is to help children in blended families feel seen, understood, and supported through the transitions, emotions, and questions that often accompany life between two homes.
Through heartfelt stories, thoughtful conversations, and meaningful tools, we aim to provide comfort, reassurance, and language for the feelings children may struggle to express on their own.
Morgan Lindahl
3 Who Stay, 2 Who Go
Morgan Lindahl is a new Utah-based author and passionate advocate for blended families. In 2018, she married the love of her life and became a stepmom to his two toddlers, who she quickly loved as her own. Together, they have since welcomed three more children, creating her dream family.
Morgan finds magic in the everyday moments of motherhood and is especially passionate about supporting her children and "bonus babes" as they navigate the complex emotions of blended family life.
With a degree in interpersonal and family communication and years of experience working with children and families, Morgan is committed to fostering emotional connection in the home. As a stepmom and mom raising "our babies," she lives the realities of what she writes about and desires to create conversation and future stories for the children in such a common family dynamic.
Morgan loves traveling with her husband, Cade, and their children, believing that meaningful experiences, connection, and memories are what matter most. When they're home, she's soaking in the magic of ordinary days with her loves.
Amanda Gonzales
1 Who Stays, 3 Who Go
Amanda Gonzales is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who has spent more than 15 years supporting children and families. She is the owner of a private practice dedicated to helping children and families thrive, and her work has spanned schools, nonprofits, and behavioral consultation.
Much of Amanda’s work focuses on helping families navigate divorce, separation, and the unique rhythms of blended family life. Her background in behavior analysis provides a deep understanding of how children communicate their emotions through behavior and how caregivers can support them in developing healthy coping strategies during times of stress and change.
At home, Amanda lives the story she writes about. She and her husband are raising four children — one who stays and three who go — and their family life is filled with sports practices, outdoor adventures, road trips, and movie nights on the couch.
Amanda hopes this story is one her own children will connect with and that other children will feel safe, understood, and never alone in their big feelings.
Sally Logue
Sally Logue received an HBFA in Illustration and has been passionately creating watercolor artwork for most of her 23 years of life. She is deeply drawn to visual communication and storytelling and especially loves capturing emotion and the simple, quiet, or chaotic moments of everyday life, rendering them as beautifully and thoughtfully as she can.
Family has always been incredibly important to Sally, and she remains continually grateful for the support of her grandmother, parents, brothers, and friends throughout her artistic and creative journey.
Sally thrives in collaborative environments — whether on the soccer field, in a studio printshop, or in a classroom teaching French — and believes that family is where people find their very best teammates.
She is excited to collaborate with Morgan Lindahl and Amanda Gonzales and hopes readers will be just as excited to join them on the journey.
